Verizon

Overview

Verizon sought to transform its workplaces into highly efficient, user-centered spaces that could serve as desirable locations for both existing employees and future clients. The project aimed to create frictionless movement, intuitive navigation, and seamless resource utilization while integrating digital tools to enhance collaboration, wayfinding, and space management. A critical need was the development of an integrated data and technology platform to support real-time decision-making and improve space utilization while addressing security and cost-effectiveness.

Approach
In partnership with Control Group, Verizon adopted a data-driven, iterative approach to develop a suite of digital tools and experiences tailored to workplace transformation. The project began with extensive data collection on space utilization, user preferences, and entry/exit data. Prototypes were tested iteratively at Verizon's Basking Ridge and NY Metro Area sites, enabling Verizon to refine features based on real-time user feedback and prototype performance. An integration framework strategy was developed to ensure seamless interaction among new and existing systems, emphasizing modularity and flexibility for future scaling.

Vision
The implementation resulted in significant improvements in workplace experience, supporting ease of navigation, access, and booking within Verizon spaces. The VIEW Dashboard enabled real-time data access and visualization, supporting better resource allocation and data-driven decision-making. Verizon observed enhanced employee satisfaction, increased productivity, and reductions in operational costs by optimizing resource utilization. The project laid a foundation for scalability, with plans for expanded rollout across Verizon sites and potential applications in the coworking market.

Outcome

The room booking application significantly improved room utilization and employee satisfaction. Real-time availability updates and clearer room signage reduced booking conflicts and helped employees find spaces quickly and confidently. The application empowered employees to manage their own bookings effectively, enhancing trust in the system. As a result, Verizon reported improved workspace efficiency, fewer booking disputes, and greater confidence in room availability data. This success laid the groundwork for expanding similar solutions to other Verizon offices.
